Strengthening Citizens Engagement in Government Accountability and Natural Resource Governance<\/h2>

In 2019, TIU received funding from Democratic Governance Faculty (DGF) to implement a project titled; \u201cStrengthening Citizen Engagement and Government Accountability and Natural Resource Governance.\u201d The project was intended to empower citizens to make their leaders more accountable in effective management of public and natural resources in order to ensure improved service delivery and natural resource governance.<\/p>\n

PROJECT OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • To empower citizens to actively demand for transparency and accountability in service delivery.<\/li>\n
  • To contribute to the process of rebuilding ethics and integrity in the management of public funds.<\/li>\n

      Domestic Resource Mobilization project<\/h2>\n

      [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Transparency International Uganda with support from Diakonia through Transparency International-Kenya is implementing the Domestic Resource Mobilization project targeting the EAC regional economic communities. This rolled out in November 2018 up to December 2023. The main objective of this project was to contribute to greater social justice and economic accountability at all levels through advocacy and development\/promotion of supportive systems and policies in the EAC Region.<\/p>\n

      It was a regional project being implemented in 5 East African countries (EAC) i.e. Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda with the objective of contributing to social justice and economic accountability through advocacy and development of supportive systems in the EAC at all levels.<\/p>\n

      The focus was 4 main research\/assessment areas namely; assessment of Beneficial Ownership legal frameworks, recent Auditor General\u2019s (Supreme Institution) reports, country mining laws. It also focused on having continuous advocacy with various EAC structures including, East African Legislative Assembly, East African Community Secretariat, The African Court, individual anti-corruption minded members of parliament, regional civil society partners etc.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
